IBS Conference NYC 2026

Every year, 90.3 The Core heads to NYC for the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Conference (IBS), hosted at the Sheraton Times Square. Since 1940, IBS has brought together radio professionals and students from around the country (and world) to build connections, facilitate career growth, and host panels that educate students on the media industry and give advice on how to improve our college radio stations. Learn more about it at ibsradio.org.

Last month, we attended again. Over the course of the two-day conference, our DJs sat in for panels such as "Station PR On Campus - Building An Image," "Underwriting and Creative Ways To Raise Money For Your Station Budget," "News Reporting and Using AI Responsibly As A Journalist," and plenty more. Panels were hosted by on-air personalities, engineers, university students, and other experts, covering topics pertinent across the college radio and the general media landscape, preparing students to improve their station operations, professional practices, and technical skills.

In fact, 90.3 The Core was invited back to host our own panel, "DIY Operations: Practical tips for an effective & sustainable student-run station," for the second time. We spoke about what makes our organization unique and community-driven.

On Saturday, we attended the annual awards ceremony, where we were finalists for "Best Community Outreach Event," for last year's Holiday Vendor Fair.

Attending IBS is always rewarding, educational, and so much fun! We can't wait to come back next year. Check out more pics from the conference on Instagram.
